British Car Fools Bash

Each year the Brit car clubs of East Tennessee gather on the weekend closest to April Fools Day. This year's event was held April 4th at Panther Creek State Park near Morristown, TN. While good food, fun and comraderie are some of the reasons for gathering, the 4th one is to share planned events through the rest of the year. We, being the newbies and a small club, admitted that we didn't plan that far ahead and intended to simply use every one else's events as our own. that was accepted good naturedly.

In all 34 cars showed up and seven clubs were represented: Appalachian British Car Society of Kingsport, Tn., the host club this year and what an excellent job they did; East Tennessee MG Drivers Club of Morristown; English Auto Society of Knoxville, Tn; Southern British Car Club of Chattanooga, Tn; Smoky Mountain Chapter of the Austin Healey Club of America; Blount British Cars, Ltd. of Maryville, Tn; and of course the Plateau British Car Club of TN.

Crossville Cruise-In

(Photos by Dick Shilling)

The first Crossville Cruise-in of the season was held the 25th of April. And it was a beautiful day for it. I don't have an official count, but it looked like 300 or so total cars showed up. And 5 of them were from our Brit Car Club.

left to right, Bob & Jean Thomas' '77 MGB, Dick & Mary Shilling's '76 TR-6, Denny & Mary Burmeister's
'60 A-H 300. Mostly hidden is Charlie & Pat Bunnell's '52 MG TD and completely hidden is Charles & Tracey Hargrove's Mini.

Mary & Mary made merry and went shopping.

Here's that Mini.

Come join us this summer at the cruise-ins and the various other events that are taking place.
